Restaurants

These are all the vegan restaurants or vegan-friendly restaurants that I have tried in Canggu and my personal reviews.

1. I am Vegan Babe

This is one of the best vegan restaurants in Canggu. They have a vast choice of food for both breakfast and lunch, as well as delicious smoothies and coffee. Bear in mind that the majority of the seating have a laptop-free zone, but there are a few seats upstairs where you can use your laptop if you need to.

Vegan Omelette

With either veggies, bacon and cheese or mushrooms.

Vegan Quesadillas

Filled with refried beans, cashew cheese with guacamole and salsa on the side.

Taquitos

Tortillas fried to perfection, refried beans, cashew cheese, plant meat, lettuce and ranchero salsa.

Best Dishes: Vegan Omelette, Taquitos, Vegan Quesadillas

2. Manggis in Canggu

Great place, in the heart of Canggu. They got two breakfast deals as well as lunch dishes. The vibe is really chill and I loved their croissants. Definitely recommend even if you want a place to work and chill.

Breakfast Combo

Coffee or tea of your choice, vegan avocado toast, muesli, scrambled tofu, jamu juice, watermelon.

Best Dishes: Breakfast Combo, Tofu Hollandaise, Breakfast Scramble

Price Range: ££

3. Kynd Community

It’s a lovely café all pink and perfect if you want some photos for the gram. I tried a vegan fried egg but honestly, it wasn’t very good. I loved the effort but the albumen didn’t taste good. Everything else was great though. They have two locations, one in Canggu and one in Seminyak and they host a thrift shop on specific days.

Big Boss Breaky

Vega fried egg with with sourdough, pesto, garlic mushrooms, avocado, breaky brushcetta, smokey bakon, pumpkin hummus, hash brown & balsamic reduction

Best Dishes: Big Boss Breaky, Beacon Benedict, Sunny Ride Burger

4. Secret Spot Bali

This place is great for dinners. Breakfast is okay but not the best, so if you want to come definitely come for dinner as it’s a great experience. They have the best pizza in Canggu and you absolutely have to try their cheeses. Out of this world. Note: Wi-Fi is not very good, but food is!

Lasagne

Homemade pasta, zucchini, aubergine, napoli sauce, vegan cheese

Chocolate cake with a inner layer of banana and chocolate mousse

5. Tasty Vegan Bali

This place is super cheap and it’s actually in Seminyak but very close to Canggu. You can find lovely traditional Balinese dishes and a lovely atmosphere as it’s immersed in nature. It’s very cheap so it’s perfect if you are on a budget but the quality is also a bit lower than others. They offer more authentic Indonesian cuisine, which is nice.

Nasi Campur

Fried rice with tempeh, salad and fried tofu

Best Dishes: Nasi Goreng, Nasi Campur, Pumpkin Soup

Price Range: £

6. The Avocado Factory

This place is not vegan but it is vegan friendly. They make a nice avocado toast with hollandaise sauce. However, their coffee was not very good and we did not come back for this reason.

Vegan Benedict

Rye sourdough bread, scrambled tofu, avocado, vegan hollandaise, black sesame seeds

Best Dishes: Vegan Omelette, Taquitos, Vegan Quesadillas

Price Range: ££

7. L’osteria

This is a lovely Italian place that has a really big vegan menu. They offer pizza but also pasta and dessert. It’s right in the centre of Canggu near Manggis. The owners are really lovely and the quality quite good.

Best Dishes: Parmigiana di Melanzane, Vegan Margherita Pizza, Panna Cotta

Price Range: ££

8. Burgreens

Unfortunately, I cannot say a lot about this place as I have only tried one small dish and I did not like it. However, many people go to this restaurant all the time and I’ve heard lots of good things about it so it might just be me. Maybe it was that particular dish I had or maybe it’s just me.

Vegan Ribs

Vegan ribs with chips, bbq sauce and coleslaw

Best Dishes: Vegan Omelette, Taquitos, Vegan Quesadillas

Price Range: ££

9. The Sloth

I only went once to this restaurant and even though I liked it, I didn’t love it as much as I did with other restaurants. It was good but not mind-blowing. The restaurant is owned by the hotel, which makes it a vegan hotel and that is pretty cool if you want an entire vegan stay.

Best Dishes: Vegan Breakfast Bagels, Breakfast Burger

Price Range: ££

10. Café Tane

This is the place where I had the best vegan ramen of my life. It’s a lovely Japanese café on the edge of Canggu and it is one to absolutely try. They also make other dishes, coffee and smoothie. It’s also a great place to work from.

Vegan Ramen

Vegan miso ramen with carrot, pak choi and cabbage.

Best Dishes: Vegan Curry, Vegan Ramen

Price Range: ££

Bonus restaurant

11. Healthy Ubud

This place is a cute little restaurant in the heart of Canggu, where you can find sushi, burritos and lots of different dishes. It is good but this is also not a place that was mind-blowing for me. But it is cheap and if you are in the vicinity of the restaurant I’d give it a go.

Uburrito

Burrito with tomatoes, spinach, vegan chicken served with taro chips and sauce

Best Dishes: Vegan Sushi, Uburrito

Price Range: £

Tip: if you want to keep your costs low, you should go to Warungs. Warungs are typical Indonesian restaurants where you can get really cheap food and they usually always have some vegan options.

Supermarkets

Here are two supermarkets that you’ll find useful if you have an Airbnb and want to cook or if simply you want to get some snacks and other food.

Pepito Market

This is the place where most of visitors go and here you can find lots of vegan products, such as vegan mozzarella, vegan parmesan, chocolate and much more.

Zero Waste Bali

This is a really cute shop that sells food but also lots of different zero waste products. They have delicious cheeses, meat replacements, candles, toiletries and more.

What to do in Canggu

Note: If you decide to do the swimming with dolphins activity, please please make sure that this is ethical and research it thoroughly. I have decided not to do it because I could not find an ethical activity so bear this in mind.
