Restaurants

These are all the vegan restaurants or vegan-friendly restaurants that I have tried in Ubud and my personal reviews.

Kafe Ubud

This place is perfect if you want some cheap Western vegan food. They have scrambled tofu, smoothies and a few more dishes. I quite liked it. I would say it’s not as good in quality as others but still a good choice if you want to save some money.

Best Dishes: Scrambled tofu

Price Range: £

Pav Kitchen

I tried this restaurant because it was adjacent to a co-working space. I discovered it just because of that. They have the most delicious tempeh skewers. They offer an entire page of vegan food and it is super super cheap. If you want delicious vegan food that is also super cheap definitely come here.

Best Dishes: Tempeh Skewer,

Price Range: £

Munchies

This is a warung where you’ll also find super affordable vegan food. They have lots of dishes and an entire page dedicated to vegan food, as well as juices and smoothies. I tried their noodles with tempeh and they were delicious!

Sayuri Healing Food

This place is not just a restaurant but it is a proper vibe. During my stay in Ubud I have come here so many times and what I loved about it is that you just feel like you are in your own living room but with friends. You get to sit on lovely pillows on the floor (there are normal chairs too depending on what you choose) and you just chill and eat the delicious food. It is completely vegan and they also have events going on every day. Absolutely recommend this place! The only downside is that I found a hair in my food in the 10 different dishes that I’ve tried so I would actually go again if I was there, to be honest.

Best Dishes:

Price Range: ££

Mudra Café

This place has some vegan options, especially for breakfast and brunch. I particularly loved their smoothies. I got a delicious porridge and their breakfast which was okay but the porridge was better. Would recommend,if you want to try something different.

This is a vegan friendly restaurant as well as an eco-friendly shop. I simply loved the avo toast and I would definitely recommend coming here. It’s in the centre of Ubud and you’ll love it.

Zest Ubud

This is a very popular vegan restaurant in Ubud, but unfortunately, I only managed to go once. I definitely enjoyed the omelette and their crispy potatoes that I got. It is a little expensive but it’s good to try.

Best Dishes: Parmigiana di Melanzane, Vegan Margherita Pizza, Panna Cotta

Price Range: ££

Pizza Cult Bali

This is definitely the best pizza in Bali. Definitely worth a visit. I loved how excellent the pizza was. Super high in quality. As an Italian I absolutely recommend it. They even have gluten-free options. Their handmade ginger beer is a must-try.

Seeds of Bali

This is a vegan raw restaurant in the heart of Ubud, which was also very good. I loved trying raw vegan food for the first time. Personally, I was missing the carbs a lot, but it’s fine to try at least once.

Indian place

Tip: if you want to keep your costs low, you should go to Warungs. Warungs are typical Indonesian restaurants where you can get really cheap food and they usually always have some vegan options.

What to do in Ubud

Gili Islands

If you are in Bali you cannot miss visiting Gili Islands. These are three islands off of the east coast of Bali and they are very little but beautiful. There are no cars or scooters there you can only go around with a bicycle, walking or (unfortunately) with horse carriages (please don’t do this). There are three different ilands, Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. The majority of vegan food is on Gili Air. I only had an hour there and I went to Juju Zero Waste and I had the best Bao Buns of my life there! 100% a must visit. You need to try their tofu teriyaki bao buns. I still dream of them at night!
